The Manjari Sankurathri Memorial Foundation of Canada

Together, we can build a better world

Millions of people lack access to basic amenities

Since it’s inception, MSMF has helped millions of needy people, by supporting Eye Care, Education and Disaster Relief programs in India and Canada.

We work with the Sankurathri Foundation of India and other charitable organizations.

Eye Care

India is the most populous nation in the world with the dubious distinction of having the most blind people.

The Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology provides paediatric and adult eye care in the suburbs of Kakinada.

Education

Many rural children in Andhra Pradesh face appallingly low educational standards and limited access to school due to poverty.

The Sarada Vidyalayam School provides high-quality, values-based education at little or no cost to the students or their families.

Disaster Relief

Coastal communities along the Bay of Bengal are frequently displaced by cyclones, floods and other disasters.

The Spandana Disaster Relief Center delivers immediate aid, helping families survive and rebuild their lives.

Impact in numbers

In Memory

The Manjari Sankurathri Memorial Foundation was incorporated and registered as a charitable organization in Canada in 1989, to remember Manjari Sankurathri and her children, who were killed in the bombing of Air India Flight 182 off the coast of Ireland on June 23, 1985.

Winner of the Padma Shri Award

In 2023, Dr. Chandrasekhar Sankurathri received the prestigious Padma Shri Award from Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, President of India.

The award was conferred in recognition of Dr. Sankurathri’s distinguished contribution to social service.

95% of every dollar

MSMF is managed entirely by volunteers. In 2024, 95% of every dollar donated went directly to one of our charitable partners.

7,000+ Canadian donors

Since 1989, thousands of Canadian organizations and individuals have donated money to the MSMF.
